04Vaccinations & health

Vaccination requirements.

All cats must be vaccinated against the following at least two (2) weeks before boarding:

  • Feline Parvovirus / Panleukopenia Virus (FPV)
  • Feline Calicivirus (FCV)
  • Feline Herpesvirus / Rhinotracheitis Virus (FHV)

FIV/FeLV testing is mandatory and proof of testing results must be provided. We accept FIV+ and FeLV+ cats but require advance notification for proper arrangements.

Vaccination records must be presented prior to check-in. Cats without proper documentation will be refused boarding without refund. All cats must be healthy and free from contagious diseases at check-in. The Whisker Hut reserves the right to refuse boarding to any cat showing signs of illness.

Revolution (external parasite treatment) must have been applied at least two (2) weeks before boarding. This is mandatory for stray/community cats. If a cat develops contagious illness during their stay and infects other cats, the owner is liable for the affected cats' veterinary expenses.

05Neutering

Neutering requirement.

All cats must be neutered to minimize yowling, calling, or urine spraying behavior.

Please inform us in advance if your cat is not neutered.

06Litter

Litter box training.

All cats must be litter box trained. We use premium quality tofu litter. You may bring your own litter if your cat prefers a specific type.

07Food

Feeding instructions.

Complimentary in-house food provided: Aatas Cat wet food and Science Diet Kitten dry food. Please provide your own cat food if your cat has a sensitive stomach or only eats specific brands.

Special diets

Cooked or raw diets are welcome. Meals brought by owners should be clearly labeled with the cat's name, date, and feeding time.

08Stress & adaptation

Stress and adaptation notice.

Please be advised: it is normal for cats in a new environment to experience stress and refuse to eat or drink for a couple of days. This may inevitably cause weight loss, weakened immune system, and increased susceptibility to flu and other viruses.

  • Our staff will be vigilant during this familiarization stage.
  • Feliway diffusers will be used to calm cats.
  • Your cat's safety and home-like comfort is paramount to us.

The Whisker Hut shall not be held liable for stress-related illness, age-related conditions, or pre-existing medical issues that arise during boarding, unless caused by gross negligence.

09Room allocation

Multi-cat sharing and supervised free roaming.

  • We do not allow mixing of boarding cats from different families to ensure safety and prevent disease transmission.
  • Room assignments are at management's discretion based on availability and cat compatibility (for multi-cat families).
  • For multi-cat families sharing a room, owners must ensure their cats are compatible and provide written consent acknowledging they accept responsibility for any conflicts or injuries between their own cats.

Free roaming privileges: cats may be allowed supervised free roaming in designated common areas, subject to the following requirements:

  • The cat must be FIV/FeLV negative with test results provided prior to check-in.
  • Free roaming is granted at management's discretion based on the cat's behavior and temperament.
  • The Whisker Hut reserves the right to revoke free roaming privileges at any time if the cat displays aggressive or unsuitable behavior.
10Behavioral disclosure

Behavioral issues and disclosure.

  • Owners must disclose any known behavioral issues (aggression, anxiety, destructive behavior, medical conditions) that may affect the cat's stay or the safety of other cats and staff.
  • Boarding may be refused or terminated without refund if a cat displays aggressive, destructive, or harmful behavior that poses risk to staff or other animals.
  • Failure to disclose behavioral issues may result in immediate termination of boarding without refund.
11Emergency & vet care

Emergency and veterinary care.

  • An emergency contact must be provided and remain reachable throughout the boarding period.
  • The Whisker Hut will make reasonable efforts to contact the owner's preferred veterinary clinic in case of illness or injury.
  • If the preferred vet cannot be contacted or is unavailable, treatment will be arranged at our designated veterinary clinic.
  • If the owner or emergency contact cannot be reached within two (2) hours of a medical emergency, The Whisker Hut is authorized to seek necessary veterinary care at the owner's expense.
  • All veterinary costs incurred are the owner's responsibility and must be paid immediately upon invoice.
  • The Whisker Hut reserves the right to isolate sick cats and seek immediate veterinary care at the owner's expense to protect other boarders.
12Medication

Medication administration.

Medication will be administered according to the owner's written instructions. All medication must be clearly labeled with the cat's name, dosage details, and administration schedule. Medication administration is charged separately based on the method and frequency required — please inquire about rates when booking.

13Extended services

Add-on services.

The following services are available for a nominal fee:

  • Fetch & Send Service — pick-up and drop-off at your location.
  • Grooming before check-out — bath, nail trim, ear cleaning.
  • Veterinary visits — transport to vet appointments during stay.

Please inform us in advance if you wish to use any extended services. Fees apply.

14Stray & community cats

Boarding for strays and community cats.

Stray or community cats must be examined and confirmed by a veterinarian to be clinically well before boarding. They must have Revolution applied (for ear mites and fur mites) and undergo FIV/FeLV testing.

15Liability & indemnity

Liability and indemnity.

The Whisker Hut will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of all cats in our care.

The Whisker Hut shall not be held liable for:

  • Stress-related illness, age-related conditions, or pre-existing medical issues, unless caused by gross negligence.
  • Any illness, injury, or death that may occur during the boarding period, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
  • Escape, theft, or loss of cats due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Owners certify that their cat is free from contagious diseases at the time of check-in. Owners are liable for any damage caused by their cat to The Whisker Hut's property, equipment, or other cats.

16Personal items

Personal items from home.

Owners may bring personal items such as bedding, toys, carriers, and bowls for their cat's stay. The Whisker Hut is not responsible for loss, damage, or destruction of personal items during the boarding period. We recommend labeling all personal items with your cat's name.

17Abandonment

Abandonment.

If the owner fails to collect their cat within three (3) days after the scheduled check-out date without communication, the cat will be deemed abandoned. The Whisker Hut will make reasonable efforts to contact the owner and emergency contact before taking further action.

Further action may include:

  • Surrendering the cat to an animal shelter.
  • Rehoming through appropriate channels.
  • Charging additional boarding fees at double the standard rate until the cat is collected or rehomed.

Animal abandonment is an offense under Singapore's Animals and Birds Act. The Whisker Hut reserves the right to report cases of abandonment to the relevant authorities.

18Photographs & videos

Photographs and videos.

The Whisker Hut may photograph and record cats during their stay for promotional and marketing purposes, including use on our website, social media, and advertising materials. Owners who do not consent to their cat being photographed or recorded must notify us in writing before check-in.

The Whisker Hut shall not be liable for failure to perform services due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters.
  • Government restrictions or lockdowns.
  • Power outages.
  • Fire, flood, or public health emergencies.

In such cases, pro-rated refunds may be issued at management's discretion.

20Governing law

Governing law and dispute resolution.

  • These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
  • Any disputes shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation between the parties.
  • If unresolved, disputes may be referred to the Small Claims Tribunals or the courts of Singapore, as appropriate.

The Whisker Hut reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website and come into effect immediately upon posting.
